Staff Biographies

Pool Director Ken Pierson

Ken grew up at Ridge Top where his father was a longtime board member. He is a veteran pool director and swim coach. He serves as the head coach of the North Haven High School and Notre Dame High School boys swim teams as well as the Amity Aquatic Club swim team.

Swim Team Coach and Swim Instructor Martha Phelan

Martha has decades of experience as a swim coach and teacher and is head coach of the North Haven High School girl’s swim team. In 2023, she led Ridge Top to its first swim club team championship in many years. In addition to coaching the swim team, Martha and her coaches offer private swim lessons.

Tennis Pro Mike Bullars

Mike is returning for his fifth year at RTC. A competitive tennis player for decades, Mike has experience coaching and instructing all ages and skill levels. In the spring, Mike is the head coach for the Amity High School Boys Tennis Team. During the winter, Mike teaches tennis indoors at Oak Lane Country Club in Woodbridge and at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center at Yale. He is a certified tennis instructor with the Professional Tennis Registry and is USTA certified in Safe Play and Children Youth Tennis. Mike looks forward to a great tennis season this year at RTC!

Manager Bruce Rich

Bruce brings a wealth of “Summer” experience to his position at Ridge Top.  For twenty five years, he served as the Director of the Summer Programs at Hamden Hall Country Day School.  In that position, Bruce worked with his staff to plan and supervise activities for the summer camp and the sports camps that were offered.  He also has previous experience serving as the Pool Director for the High Lane Club and as the Manager of the Swim and Tennis Club at Wesleyan Hills.  When not enjoying the summer months, Bruce teaches mathematics in the upper school at Hamden Hall.  He looks forward to providing our membership with an enjoyable summer at the “Oasis on the Hill”.
 

Assistant Manager Meghan Moran

Meghan comes to Ridge Top after working with Bruce as part of the Summer Programs staff at Hamden Hall.  Starting as a Junior Counselor, Meghan quickly advanced to the role of Senior Counselor, taking on the responsibility to supervise both the children and the younger staff.  She also enjoyed helping develop the campers’ daily activities.  During the school year, Meghan teaches in the Early Childhood Program at Hamden Hall.  She is looking forward to the summer and meeting the families here at Ridge Top.

Maintenance Manager Vinny Buonocore

Vinny, whose family joined Ridge Top when he was a child, has been the club’s director of maintenance for nearly 20 years. A master mechanic, carpenter, gardener, certified pool technician and jack-of-all-trades, he and his crew keep the club looking great year round.
